A butterfly
Children's Writing & Art Contest
The Friends of the Heggan Library will celebrate their 20th anniversary on June 7th with a butterfly release. The Friends would like to invite children in grades 1-5 to participate in a contest.
Submit a short essay (1 page or less, one-sided) describing "Why I Love My Library.' You can tell about a special book or event in the library, how you like to use the library, or how the library makes you happy.

Or...

Since we are celebrating butterflies, you may enter a drawing or coloring a picture about butterflies. Pictures can be no longer than 8/12 by 11 and should be one-sided.

Essays and art will be displayed in the library art gallery during the month of June. There will be a $20 gift card prize for two winners; one for the essay and one for the picture.

You must be a Heggan cardholder to enter the contest. One entry per child. Contest entries should be dropped off at the Children's desk by May 19, 2025.

The new little free library at the Washington Twonship municipal building
TAKE A BOOK, SHARE A BOOK!
One of our 2025 strategic planning goals is to conduct more outreach to Washington Township residents. We are partly implementing this goal by adding Little Free Libraries throughout the township. We currently have one at Washington Lake Park which was sponsored by Girl Scout Troop 61578 last year.
The second Little Free Library was just installed at the Washington Township Municipal Building. Not only are there free books, but the Little Free Library includes bookmarks about our services. There is also a QR code on the unit to make it easy to access the library website.

We are thankful for Mayor DellaPia and the township Public Works Department who assisted us with this project.
