The Margaret E. Heggan Free Public Library is the municipal library for residents of Washington Township in Gloucester County. The library celebrated its 55th anniversary in 2021. The library is located in a 20,000 square foot building that was renovated in 2010. The 2,065 square foot children’s library is enclosed and includes an ample collection of children’s materials, public access computers, a story time room, and a public service desk that is staffed during all library hours. The library has a strong history of excellent services to children and strives to continue this tradition.

Sara has worked at the library since 2022. Before joining the library, she worked in several libraries in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She has served as a school librarian, academic librarian and a branch manager, but her most favorite job is working with children. She loves to create nontraditional library programming and making the library a destination for families to hang out. Sara enjoys making noise in the library, reading romance novels and talking about her cats.

Stephanie has worked at the library since 2022. She began her career as a Youth Services Librarian in 2003 and has worked in libraries in New Jersey and Texas, assisting children, teens, and their grownups for over two decades. She truly cannot believe that her first storytime kids now possibly have kids of their own! She loves being surrounded by books, gobbling up interesting yet somewhat useless knowledge, creating not-so-great art, listening to and making music, laughing at everything and nothing with her daughters, and snuggling with Opie, her handsome orange tabby cat.
- BA in English and French from Elmira College
- MA in English Literature from Rutgers University
- MA in School and Public Librarianship from Rowan University
Barb has worked at the library since 2018. After many years in public education as a high school English teacher, school librarian, and advisor/coach for numerous activities, Barb retired and turned to the public library for fun! She has an extensive personal library and an expanding train collection. When not working in the library for teens and tweens, she dabbles in real estate, renovations, and making stained glass.
- BA in Political Science and Spanish from Rutgers University – New Brunswick
- MILS from Rutgers University – New Brunswick
Rebecca has worked at the library since 2025. From 2023 through 2025, she worked for a county library system in central NJ.
